Digital Rights Management is a Microsoft technology designed to work with Windows Media Player.
In essence the process is rather simple but the technology is very complex and makes developing a means of deployment expensive and time consuming.
Simply put the Windows Media Encoder was developed to protect media. Our system works with the Windows Media Rights Management sdk to allow you the content producer to protect your content by encrypting your media files.

Your windows media file will be encoded using several encryption keys. One of the Keys is embedded in the File and the unlocking key is saved on MMK Secure Stream. Together those keys can de-encrypt the file. When Windows Media Player tries to view the Encrypted File it checks to see if a license is available using a License Acquisition URL (a web page to deliver the unlocking key). MMK Secure Stream can deliver that unlocking key and de-encrypt the file so that the customer can then watch the video or listen to the audio, but before the key is delivered you the content provider can use one of several techniques to verify that the the key should be delivered. This changes the face of things:
You the content provider can now guarantee that your media will not be viewed or heard without the client entering some information or paying you for the service even if they received the file from a friend or file sharing network.
